Dysport Kingwood, Texas

Dysport is an FDA-approved injectable that temporarily treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines. It uses a form of botulinum toxin called abobotulinumtoxinA to block signals between nerves and the underlying muscles responsible for repeated frowning, smiling, and squinting. By reducing contraction in these muscles, Dysport softens facial lines and helps prevent deeper wrinkles from forming over time. Dysport allows normal movement in untreated facial muscles when injected appropriately, so your expressions still look like you.

At Kingwood Skin Essentials, your Dysport treatment is physician-directed and customized to your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. Our care team includes Board Certified specialists with advanced training in cosmetic injectables, ensuring precise injections and natural results. We offer a free consultation so you can talk through your goals, understand the procedure, and determine whether Dysport is the right fit – with no commitment required. Dysport has a smaller molecular structure, allowing it to spread more easily across larger treatment areas, which can produce a smooth, even relaxation of frown lines when placed by an experienced injector.

Benefits of Dysport

What to Expect

Your visit begins with a one-on-one consultation. We will discuss your goals, review your medical history and any current medications, and create a treatment plan based on your needs. Your doctor will examine the muscles in your forehead and brow area to plan precise injection placement.

During treatment, a mild anesthetic is applied before Dysport injections to minimize discomfort. Doctors inject 0.05 milliliters at a time in five portions, targeting the corrugator and procerus muscles responsible for frown lines. Three to five injections are usually required for desired results. The entire procedure typically takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Downtime is minimal. You may notice mild redness or slight swelling at the injection site, but most patients return to normal activities the same day. Avoid lying flat or intense exercise for a few hours, and do not rub the treated area. Dysport can start taking effect within a couple of days, with many patients noticing visible improvement by day two or three. Full results typically develop over the following weeks. Results from Dysport can last up to 5 months, though individual experience may vary based on factors like muscle mass, metabolism, and treatment history.

Is This Treatment Right for You?

Dysport may be a good option if you are bothered by moderate to severe frown lines between your eyebrows and want to soften your appearance without surgery or extended downtime. Adults with dynamic expression lines – those that appear during frowning or concentrating – are often strong candidates for this treatment.

Dysport may have a lower risk of developing resistance over time, which can be an important consideration for patients planning ongoing treatment. However, do not use Dysport if you are allergic to its ingredients or cow’s milk protein. Patients with a history of myasthenia gravis, muscle weakness, or breathing problems should discuss these conditions with their doctor before treatment. Dysport may cause serious side effects that can be life-threatening, including difficulty swallowing or breathing, and symptoms can occur within hours to weeks after Dysport injection. If you experience trouble breathing, drooping eyelids, blurred vision, muscle stiffness, or any signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical help immediately.

During your consultation at Kingwood Skin Essentials, we will help determine if Dysport fits your individual goals and health profile. Results and patient experience may vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both Dysport and Botox last 3–4 months on average. However, Dysport results can last up to 5 months, while Botox results can last up to 6 months, depending on the individual. Factors such as age, muscle activity, and whether you have had two treatments or more can affect duration. Your doctor will recommend a maintenance schedule during your consultation.

There is very little downtime. Side effects of Dysport are generally mild and temporary. The most common side effects include minor redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site, as well as nausea, sinusitis, and upper respiratory infection. You can typically return to daily activities right away. We recommend you avoid strenuous exercise for a few hours and wear sunglasses if you experience any light sensitivity. Botulinum toxicity is a rare but serious complication of Dysport – contact your care team if you notice any unusual symptoms such as fatigue, sore throat, weakness, or trouble with bladder control.

Most patients begin to see visible improvement within two to three days, which is often faster than Botox injections. Full treatment effects typically develop over the following two to four weeks. Your progress will be assessed at a follow-up if needed.

Dysport is approved only for glabellar lines – the vertical frown lines between your eyebrows. In comparison, Botox is approved for glabellar lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Off-label uses for other facial lines may be discussed during your consultation, but the FDA-approved cosmetic indication for Dysport is limited to the glabellar area. Dysport is often considered excellent for larger treatment areas due to its natural spread, and it is injected directly into facial muscles for intramuscular use.

At Kingwood Skin Essentials, we offer a promotional rate of $11.50 per unit for first-time neuromodulator patients. Because Dysport requires approximately 2.5–3 units to match 1 unit of Botox, the total number of units differs from what you might see quoted for Botox. A standard glabellar treatment uses approximately 50 units. Your exact cost will depend on your customized treatment plan, which we will discuss at your consultation. We also offer rewards programs to help make ongoing skincare and aesthetic treatments more accessible.

Both are botulinum toxin–based wrinkle relaxers, but there are key differences. Dysport has a smaller molecular structure, which allows it to diffuse more broadly – this can be beneficial for treating wider areas but requires a skilled injector for precision near the eyebrows or eyes. Dysport typically shows results within two to three days, while Botox may take three to five days. Dysport injections typically require 3 to 5 injections per session. Unit dosing is not interchangeable: Dysport requires roughly 2.5–3 units for every 1 unit of Botox. Your doctor can help you determine which option best fits your goals and facial anatomy. Serious risks of Dysport can include difficulty swallowing or breathing, and you should not operate machinery if you experience blurred vision or muscle weakness after treatment. Always inform your doctor about any new medicines or possible side effects you notice between visits.
